Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church

Growing, Giving, & Caring

     Our History

The inception of Holy Trinity took place in the autumn of 1889, when a religious meeting was held by a few families from the surrounding area.  A Sunday School was organized, and a committee appointed to study the possibility of future expansion.  At this time, Magnolia was a rural community which was just beginning to develop.  Proprerty on the northwest corner of Warwick Rd and Washington Ave was purchased and plans were procured for the erection of the first edifice.  A charter was eventually granted and on August 15, 1893 the “Evangelical Lutheran Congregation of Magnolia” was incorporated.

In 1915, the congregation purchased the building at 122 W. Evesham Ave to be used as the parsonage.  By 1943, the name “Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Magnolia, NJ” was accepted and certified as the official legal title.

In 1947, lots were purchased at the northeast corner of Evesham Ave and Warwick Rd

for a new parish building which was completed in 1950.  Services continued in the church on Evesham Ave until late 1953, when it was sold and services were then held in the parish building.  With Magnolia now changing from a rural to suburban area, a growing congregation needed a larger worship space.

Holy Trinity broke ground and began construction of the current worship building in 1956.  The dedication occurred on March 31, 1957, with approximately 380 people in attendance.  With a growing number of families, Holy Trinity needed to expand again.  A new Sunday School  addition was erected in 1962 on the same property.

Today, Holy Trinity is considered a mid-size congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.  We offer a variety of worship services, a Christian education program open to all ages, an active social ministry, and a growing youth and family ministry.  Our facilities are used by a variety of community groups, and we actively participate in numerous community activities.

We invite you to come and worship with us.
